Leadership & Service

Leadership

Everyone can show leadership in some capacity, whether or not you hold an official position or title within a group.  We "do leadership" every day with our families, friends, classmates, organizations, jobs, and other interactions.  Use the information below to connect with existing leadership development programs through the Ohio Union, or contact our staff for more information.

Leadership Awards

The 47th Annual Leadership Award were held on Friday, May 16, 2008.  Awards were given to individual students, student organizations, programs, websites, collaborations, innovations, and faculty/staff advisors.

More information abou the Awards Celebration Program and award recipients is posted to the Leadership Awards website.  Click here to visit the Leadership Awards website.

Contact Jen Pelletier with questions or for more information.

LeaderShape Institute

The LeaderShape Institute is an interactive, energizing, and unique experience that builds leadership skills no other program can match.  It is six days of non-stop self-discovery and learning from practical experiences that build your leadership concepts and abilities.  Only 60 students are selected to attend each year, and there is no cost to participate.

The 2008 Ohio State LeaderShape Institute will take place September 13-18, 2008 at Salt Fork Resort and Conference Center. The student participant application deadline has passed and selected participants have been notified.  Congratulations to this year's participants!

Visit our website to learn more about LeaderShape at Ohio State.  Contact Jen Pelletier with questions or for more information.

The SOURCE is proud to offer Coca-Cola Leadership Retreat Packages to registered student organizations holding a leadership retreat during the academic year. Retreat packages may include: Coca-Cola product, funding for food, retreat supplies, and may be considered for an off-campus experience at one of our preferred locations.

For more information about this program, please contact Jen Pelletier or call 614-292-8763.

Emerging Leaders Retreat

The Ohio Union is proud to once again offer the Emerging Leaders Retreat Weekend.  The Emerging Leaders Retreat is a free weekend leadership retreat for emerging second-year undergraduate student organization members. Participants will spend a weekend full of activities that will boost leadership, goal setting skills, facilitate community building, and engage and motivate emerging leaders in Ohio State's student organizations.

For more information about the 2009 retreat, please contact Jen Pelletier.

Major Campus Events Committee

The Major Campus Events Committe is a group of undergraduate students who plan Welcome Week, Homecoming, Beat Michigan Week, and the Student Involvement Fairs.

Students gain valuable leadership and event planning skills, while organizing some of Ohio State's greatest traditions and creating new ones.  The application deadline for the 2008-09 academic year has passed.

Visit our website for more information about MCECs.  For more information or questions, email Adam Burden, or call 614-292-8763.

Buckeye Leadership Society

Buckeye Leadership Society is a program for emerging leaders, beginning in winter quarter of your first year.  BLS helps you connect leadership to real life topics and issues. You will attend speakers and discussion groups, participate in community service projects, and attend leadership training seminars to help you build your personal skills.

Current members can access the list of membership requirements here. The Autumn Quarter 2008 events calendar will be available soon. Please contact Jen Pelletier for more information about continuing your involvement with BLS.

The application deadline for BLS has passed for the 2007-08 academic year.  Please contact Jen Pelletier for more information or with questions.
