A Message From the Vice President of Student Life, William H. Hall

Dear Chapter President:

When I became interim vice president for student life at The Ohio State University, I was given the Greek Life Task Force Report presented to Vice President David Williams in May 2000. This report, the third in a series of drafts, was the result of more than 18 months of study, discussion and consultation by members of the Student Life staff and the Ohio State Greek community. It includes the input provided after the February 2000 town meetings by the presidents of the Interfraternity Council, the Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Women's Panhellenic Association. After reviewing the report, I met last summer with the three Greek council presidents to express my belief that the report is a fundamental component to moving the Greek community forward at Ohio State and my desire for us to work collectively to achieve this goal. I was encouraged by the conversation at this meeting.

At that time, dates for implementation were adjusted because the passage of time had caused some dates to become obsolete. I then submitted the attached report, dated August 17, 2000, to President Kirwan and his Planning Cabinet. The report has now been approved for implementation.

Please join me and members of my staff on Thursday, November 2, 2000, at 7:00 p.m. in the North Main Lounge of the Ohio Union to discuss opportunities for the university and members of the Greek community to collaborate on the implementation process. This will be the first step that we can take together to fulfill the vision of the report.
