Registration Timeline
 
The Student Organization Registration "New Year" begins each year May 1.  All student organizations may begin renewing their registration for the following academic year after this date.  The Student Organization Continuous Registration Deadline is October 15.  Organizations that wish to stay continuously registered and active must complete all renewal requirements between May 1 and October 15.
 
New student organizations can be started at any time of the year and have 60 days to complete the requirements to become registered and active. See below to start the registration process for a new organization.
 
Registration Requirements
  • Organization purpose statement and mailing address
  • At least 5 OSU student members
  • Names and contact information for 3 student leaders serving as officers (including OSU name.#)
  • Faculty or Staff Advisor name and contact information (including OSU name.#)
  • An electronic copy of your constitution in PDF or Word format.  If you need an electronic copy of your constitution, we can scan your paper copy in the Resource Room.  A Sample Student Organization Constitution is available for your reference.
  • An electronic copy of a roster of names and email addresses of members
All organizations must complete the following requirements in order to be registered and active:
  • Trainings for Primary Leader and Treasurer completed annually
  • Training for Advisor completed every 2 years
  • Online registration forms
  • Advisor approval of online registration
Registration Statuses
 
Student Organization statuses are based on the amount of time an organization has been continuously registered and the completed registration requirements. Below is a listing of student organization statuses.
 
Pending: organizations that are in the process of completing registration requirements for a given year. All organizations will be listed in Pending status prior to the annual October 15 deadline as registration requirements are being completed.
Active - New/Re-Established: organizations that have been registered for less than two (2) continuous years or organizations with less than 15 members of the organization; all registration requirements completed.
Active - Established: organizations that have been registered for at least two (2) continuous years; at least 15 members of the organization; all registration requirements completed by the annual October 15 deadline.
Inactive: organizations that have not completed all registration requirements by the annual October 15 deadline. This may include organizations that no longer exist as groups on campus.
Unregistered: organizations that choose to be listed in the Student Organization Directory online, but do not complete all of the registration requirements and so do not receive any benefits or resources available to student organizations.
 
Register a New Student Organization
 
New student organizations are those that are brand new in this academic year and were not registered in the previous academic year.  New organizations must complete the requirements to register their organization within 60 days of starting the online process.
