For student leaders past and present, the Ohio Union is much more than a building. The Union is a place where, leadership skills are honed, campus changing projects are initiated, and lifelong friends are made. The new Ohio Union has a magnificent two-story student organization space. The highlight of this space is a lounge dedicated solely to student organization members. The lounge includes a fireplace and bricked walls with personalized bricks of former student leaders.
The Brick Society recognizes extraordinary leadership and provides a permanent connection between the Ohio Union and its supporters. Brick Society members consist of student organization leaders and officers, supporters of a new Union, individuals who helped see the project to fruition, and Ohio Union staff, friends, and community members. The area serves as a meeting place for current leaders to provide a prominent and tangible reminder of the leadership legacy that exists at the Ohio Union. The Brick Society is invited back to campus every five years to revisit Ohio Union memories from the past and discuss current and new initiatives in the Ohio Union and the Office of Student Life.
