In February the Alexander Hamilton Society is hosting its winter debate dealing with the Global War on Terror. Specifically, the speakers will be debating whether or not the war is still necessary as well as the current and future capabilities of Al Qaeda and the broader jihadist movement. The speakers will be Dr. Mary Habeck, a professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and Dr. William McCants, a researcher at the Center for Naval Analyses and adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University SAIS as well. Both Dr. Habeck and Dr. McCants are experts on Islamic terrorism and Jihadist thought, but have very different assessments on the movement. As two leading researchers in this field, we believe that this would be a great opportunity for AHS members to be exposed to the different points of view on this topic.
